Dan the man. Very informative and social driver. Both Maureen and I had a great time during our overnight two day excursion. However Dan really did a great job by expressing his obvious passion for Fraser Island. His information of the sites we visited made it an even better experience. Nobody on the bus had to use the term "Daniel" Top marks mate.![]() Date of Posting: 07 May 2013 Posted By: Paul & Maureen Woodard New Zealand | ![]() |
![]() | I enjoyed a fantastic tour of Fraser Island last week, Russell was our guide and his extensive knowledge of the Island is priceless.I travelled on my own and he took very good care of each of us, such a professional. I would strongly recommend Sunset Safaris to those who have a high standard of travel without huge expense and if your lucky enough to get Russell then you've won the jackpot!![]() Date of Posting: 30 April 2013 Posted By: Kerry Adams Tamworth |

![]() | I am sending this email as a big thank you for an absolutely wonderful trip.Recently my American friend Carol and I took your WORLD HERITAGE LISTED 4WD Tour to “Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area.” and O'Reilly's. We were picked up by Steve in his futuristic looking 4wd coach which we loved, and would like to say that it was a never to be forgotten trip. It was Carol's first trip to Australia and Steve was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering all our questions. We would like to thank Steve especially for being such an informative, friendly and courteous guide for us. We really enjoyed the trip and especially his sense of humour. Thank you Sunset Tours and especially thank you Steve. Regards, Irena and Carol ![]() Date of Posting: 22 March 2013 Posted By: Irena A. James Auchenflower, Qld |
So, this is the first time I'm writing a review about ANYTHING online. I did the Fraser Island 2-day tour and I can't stress enough how absolutely incredible this place is, and how fantastic of a tour it was. I could write a novel about my experience, but I'll try to keep this succinct.I just got back from a two week vacation in Australia where I hit several major cities, went on several tours, and got to see a whole lot of very beautiful things. Fraser Island was the last tour of my trip and considering that I've already done and seen so much, I wasn't expecting this tour to be as amazing as it was. Now, before I start gushing about this tour, let me preface it by saying that there were a lot of factors that could've easily contributed to a negative experience. This includes a wretched storm on the island several days before the tour which didn't allow us to drive through Cooloola NP, an empty resort at Eurong, horse flies that came out after the storm, half of our tour group cancelling due to bad weather, and Lake Birrabeen stained with tannin from the trees. BUT, even with all this, the tour blew my expectations completely out of the water! We got to swim in Eli Creek, hike up Indian Head, drive along the magnificent beach, view the Maheno shipwreck, walk through Pile Valley, see Central Station, walk down the beach at night (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!), see wild Dingos and Kangaroos, and more. Even the buffet breakfast and dinner was delicious. Of course, this tour wouldn't be as great without the people to create lasting memories with. First of all, Sunset Safari is lucky to have such a genuine, caring, patient, and kind person like Steve Fraser on their team. He wasn't cooky and over-the-top like a lot of other tour guides, but preferred to be authentic and worked to establish a relationship with every one of us. He is very adaptable, extremely knowledgeable, hard working, and a great person to be around. It was also great that we had such a small group (7 total, including Steve) because it was much more intimate. By the end of the 2-day trip, I was saying goodbye to friends :( Coming from a city on the other side of the world that is basically a concrete jungle, this trip is one of those experiences that made me realize how much beauty there is on earth (it also made me realize just how much of a city girl I am!). Since I've been back, I've been telling everyone I know about Fraser Island and the wonderful experience I've had here with Sunset Safaris. Because of this tour and the people we were with, my friend and I have a LOT of memories that we'll laugh about and cherish for the rest of our lives. I will be back, though! THANK YOU!! ![]() Date of Posting: 06 February 2013 Posted By: Maria Chung Toronto, ON, Canada | ![]() |

I just had to send an email saying thank you for an unbelievable once in a life time tour to the great barrier reef! Harry Merkel picked us up in brisbane, and the next three days were possibly the greatest of our (my girlfriend and I) lives. We were able to experience the scooteroo tour, welcoming accomodations, great meals, and scuba diving at the most scenic island and lagoon imaginable. But this tour would not have been possible without the superb character, determination, and thoughtfulness of our tour guide Harry. From the moment we were picked up, Harry spent the entire time ensuring the quality of our trip. He made the necessary arrangements for us to arrive at the scooteroo with just enough time to enjoy the adventure. Then waited for us to return before heading to dinner. He assisted with the scheduling and gearing of the scuba dives, then took multiple photographs for our memory bank. To top things off, nobody was interested in surfing the last day, so together we agreed to head into Bundaberg a little early where we enjoyed a visit to the rum factory and a wonderful lunch. My girlfriend, Christin, and I enjoyed numerous other tours on our travels throughout australia and new zealand. We never had a guide like Harry. I wish we would have had more time to attend the rainforest tour he talked about south of brisbane because I know it would have been spectacular. I am sure you get many emails both positive and negative about your tours, but I had to send my deepest thanks and know that your company will be highly recommended to any travelers I encounter. Thank you so much for some of the greatest memories AND A SPECIAL THANKS to Harry Merkel, it would not have been possible without you. ![]() | I have worked in a privilege banking service industry for almost 2 years and I have a very high standard towards service. Initially, I was skeptical about Harry's service and thought he would be the 'same' as everyone else. Soon, I was guilty by such thoughts as Harry's passion overwhelmed me and my friends. We have such a great time holidaying, laughing, joking while enjoying beautiful scenery and companionship. Harry is always positive, bubbly and cheerful, he encourages us to be confident in the water when we feel intimidated by our first diving attempt. He also recommended us to go for the enriching educational tour, which increase my understanding and appreciation towards Aborigines and the nature.I will definitely recommends Sunset Safaris to all my family, friends and school for the ultimate holiday experience.Thank you Harry for this wonderful unforgettable experience. Looking forward nemo-ing with you soon. Best Regards, Einsny P ![]() Date of Posting: 27 November 2012 Posted By: Einsny P |
•Fraser Island (3 Day Trip) (By Noemi, Mick, Damian, Philippa, Yasmin & Simon) - Barry was a fab guide. He was full of knowledge on the area (and also very helpful when asking about other areas on the East Creek, He was also fun and had a great character. We are very glad we did 3 days, not 2 as even in 3 days, it feels like a long time on the bus. If time allows we would suggest (if weather allws also) spending longer at places just to sit and relax eg at the lakes, the Creek and perphaps returning to the hotel a bit later. The trip is great, but Barry "The Island" Alder makes it fantastic! - love Lam "The Checked Shirt Gang"![]() Date of Posting: 27 November 2012 Posted By: Noemi, Mick, Damian, Philippa, Yasmin & Simon | ![]() |
![]() | Hi Greg, Both you and Scott should be very proud of the type of business owners that you are! It was a pleasure to meet Scott in person when he brought the new bus to us. You go above and beyond when it comes to providing the best tours for travelers!! You definitely make sure we are taken care of, and put safety first. This was our first trip to Australia for Michael to look at Griffith university and study law there. As a single mother of two sons I can definitely tell you be proud of how warm and friendly the people are in your country, it put me at ease to know Michael would be taken care when he goes to college there in Feb 2012... and if things go well I may put in for a job at the gold coast hospital that will be opening in December 2012... I can tell you we would have lots of visitors and they would all be going on tours from sunset safari's..You have my permission to post our comments in your fans section...My very best to you from your two newest fans.
